February 2020 Newsletter

Matters of Faith:

Next Officer Meeting:

The month of February is dedicated to the Holy Family. This year the first 25 days of February fall during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time which is represented by the liturgical color green. Green, the symbol of hope, is the color of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. The remaining days of February are the beginning of Lent. The liturgical color changes to purple — a symbol of penance, mortification and the sorrow of a contrite heart.

Council News:

453085The West Coast Walk for Life Was Great, Grand, and Everything in Between!

It was an amazing show of Pro-Life passion and energy in San Francisco that day! People from all walks of life came together in support of a single goal. There were people from many churches from Protestant, to Orthodox, to Catholic. There were young people all over high-fiving participants. There were priests and religious everywhere in their habits. It was truly an occasion to behold. If you have never been to a Walk for Life, you need to go next year!

Crab Feed! Crab Feed! Crab Feed!

The Knights at 9206 have definitely been busy this month! The Crab Feed, our biggest event of the year, was upon us and the Knights absolutely rose up to the challenge and delivered! So many Knights contributed to the event to make it a success! We are truly blessed to have Brother Larry Carilli as a member of our council to help us organize this event! We even made a mind boggling $6000 on our cake auction! For those who don’t believe it, we Live Streamed the event which you can watch on our Facebook Page: @KofC9206

Knight of the Month for February 2020 goes to… John Vitz!

This is awarded to Brother John Vitz for his frequent and invaluable participation in our Knights of Columbus events. He is heavily involved in 40 Days for Life and the Walk for Life. He valiantly leads his brothers in the Holy Rosary and great company all around. Thank you Brother John!

Coats For Kids a Tremendous Success!

Brother Aaron Bryant organized a Coats for Kids drive this past winter and we had no shortage of coats and jackets donated. The tiny containers we put out could barely contain the generosity of our Parish. Well done!

Rosary Crusade for Lent

Brother David Tomcik will be leading this year’s Rosary Crusade. This year, however, there will be a twist! We will gather on Sundays of Lent in the back of the St Joan of Arc Church after the 9 am Mass to pray the rosary publically as a group. This recitation of the Rosary will be a great opportunity to bond as brothers and as an outward expression of our faith. Please keep an eye out for a Sign-Up Genius by Brother Mike Glazzy in the coming weeks.
